Hawthorn −15.5 $1.91 and Jai Newcombe 25+ disposals. Sam Mitchell has axed four and brought in a debutant - a clear statement of intent. Hawthorn at Launceston is a completely different proposition to the team that lost to Melbourne. Taylor Walker plays SANFL. Back the Hawks to cover.
Hawthorn (4 changes): Chol, Nash, B.Macdonald in + Cameron Nairn debuts. Morrison, Dear, Hustwaite, Ramsden all axed. Gunston still out (foot). Adelaide (2 changes): Thilthorpe and Ah Chee return. Pedlar and Cumming out injured. Taylor Walker fit but plays SANFL.

This is one of the most compelling storylines of Round 11. Sam Mitchell, normally measured in his selections, has made four changes in direct response to last week's 39-point loss to Melbourne - axing Morrison, Dear, Hustwaite and Ramsden, all by omission. That is a significant statement. Mitchell is clearly unhappy with the effort or execution and has chosen youth and accountability over experience.
Getting Mabior Chol and Connor Nash back is the real boost. Chol provides a physical ruck-forward option that Hawthorn have missed, while Nash's contested possession work through the midfield is hard to replace. Cameron Nairn's debut adds an element of the unknown but also fresh energy - debutants often run hard and play without fear.
Adelaide enter this off the back of a dominant 68-point demolition of North Melbourne. They get Riley Thilthorpe back in the forward line - a genuine marking target - and Callum Ah Chee adds run through the midfield. However the big missing piece is Taylor Walker. Despite being fit, the Crows' all-time leading goalkicker will return via the SANFL - that's a significant forward target that Adelaide are without.
The key factor above all of this: Launceston. UTAS Stadium functions as a second home ground for Hawthorn. They are deeply familiar with the dimensions, the conditions and the crowd. Adelaide travel poorly in general, and this is not a venue they are accustomed to. Even accounting for Hawthorn's Melbourne loss, backing them at home in Launceston against a line of 15.5 is a sound bet.
ESPN tip: Hawthorn by 13 points. Our line is -15.5 at $1.91. That's a two-goal gap - live bet. Launceston historically adds the extra scoreboard pressure for the Hawks. Hawthorn's clearance and contested possession advantage is also noted by analysts as structurally superior.
