Manly host South Sydney at 4 Pines Park on Thursday night with both sides receiving major boosts from injury and Origin returns. Haumole Olakau'atu returns from a week's rest to give the home side's left edge its bite back, while Tolu Koula has been named pending HIA clearance after failing a check during Origin I. The Sea Eagles pack — Paseka, Hetherington, Ben and Jake Trbojevic — should dominate field position around the Brooks/Fogarty steering combination.
South Sydney are buoyed by the long-awaited return of David Fifita (hamstring, first game since Round 6), Brandon Smith from a calf injury, Cameron Murray and Campbell Graham (calf). Tallis Duncan shifts to the back row and Keaon Koloamatangi moves to the front row to accommodate. Jye Gray reclaims the No.1 jersey from Matt Dufty. But Latrell Mitchell remains sidelined with a back complaint and any spine missing its best playmaker is going to take time to find rhythm.
At $1.57 the moneyline has zero value. The play is the −4.5 line at $1.94 — Manly's edge talent, home venue and a Souths side that needs a re-set after a fortnight of injury chaos should be enough to cover. Jason Saab gets the anytime tryscorer pick — Manly's strike winger off Fogarty's kicking game with a heavy forward edge feeding him.
Manly: Olakau'atu returns from rest; Koula pending HIA clearance; Bullemor OUT. Souths: Fifita, Smith, Murray, Graham, Garlick all back from injury; Latrell still out with back.
